Duties of the clerk’s office:
Recording of all births that occur within Wexford County
Issuing all marriage licenses for residents of the county
Recording all the deaths which occur in Wexford County
Recording of all DD214s
Filing agent for all circuit court matters - civil and felony
Responsible for setting up and running all County, State, and Federal elections within the county
Taking the minutes for all commissioner’s meetings when a quorum is present
New passport applications are processed through the clerk’s office
CCW application are also processed through the clerk’s office.
Birth Certificates
Birth records can only be given to the named party or the parents listed.
Click here for a printable request for birth record.* A copy of the named party's driver's license must be included with the mailed request. If the birth record request is for a minor, the parents of the minor must submit a copy of their own driver's licenses. The charge for a certified copy is $10.00 (age 65 and over $7.00) for the first and $4.00 for each additional when purchased at the same time. Please enclose a Self Addressed Stamped Envelope with request to ensure quick delivery.

Anyone is eligible to receive a birth record if the birth occurred at least 100 years ago.
Marriage, Death, and Judgment of Divorce Information
Anyone is eligible to receive a certified copy of a Wexford County death, marriage or judgment of divorce at a charge of $10.00 for the first copy and $4.00 for each additional. Only certified copies of vital records can be issued.

Applying for Marriage Licenses
If you are a Wexford County resident and wish to apply for a marriage license, the requirements are as follows:
It is not necessary for both the bride and groom to be present when completing the application, however, the party that does apply must have a piece of identification for both parties and know the following information: date of birth, social security numbers, place of birth, number of times previously married, father's full name and mother's full maiden name, parents' birth states; you must be 18 years of age to apply without parent consent, under 18 must have both parents consent.
There is a three day waiting period and the license is good for 30 days. There is a fee of $20.00
CCW Permits
CCW permits can be applied for at the clerk's office at a cost of $105.00 for a new permit and for renewals.
Name Searches
Request(s) for Circuit Court name searches must be done in writing or in person at the Clerk's office. The charge is $5.00 per name.
Passports
The requirements are: two identical passport photos, birth certificate with a raised seal and/or previously issued passport, applicant must produce their driver's license, check or money order made payable to the "Department of State" in the amount of $67.00 for applicants 16 years old or older and $52.00 for applicants under 16 years old. Both parents must sign if the applicant is under 14 years old. There is a processing fee of $30.00 for each passport which can be cash or separate check. Passports take about 6 weeks to process. Applications for renewals are available at the Clerk's office.
